BET365 Sponsorship Idents
BET365's EPIC sponsorship idents for Sky Sports and BT Sports were no small feat, and our team was thrilled to be involved in composing, sound design, and sound mixing duties. As you may have guessed from the title, these idents had to sound absolutely MASSIVE! Drummond Central was the agency behind this all-North-East project, and we were excited to be a part of it.
The main concept behind these idents was to turn the numbers 3, 6, and 5 into characters who participated in various sporting events. Each ad had a climactic accident or joke as a payoff. Truth be told, there was a 'the sky's the limit' approach to the sound design for this project. We knew that instead of being accurate, the best way forward was to get hyper-realistic with the effects and go all out!
Initially, we discussed the idea of composing some seriously big and bold music to run in the background, and simplify the sound effects from previous BET365 projects. This way, everything had a bit more space to be, well, super huge! The music was to sound like a film trailer - very dramatic and over-the-top.
But here's the interesting part: as these idents were used in multiple countries, we couldn't use any words in them to give the characters some life. This presented certain challenges, but it was also an opportunity to give them their own unique identity. Additionally, as these were animations, we had plenty of scope for building layered sounds that didn't exist in the real world but sounded brilliant against cartoon animation.
In the end, the BET365 EPIC sponsorship idents were an exciting and rewarding project for our team. We loved the opportunity to flex our creative muscles and produce something that truly sounded epic.
