2013 A couple of highlights - The East Wing Sound recording studio
Well....we're officially in 2014...how on earth did that happen. 12 months have gone past very quickly. We've been involved in some excellent work in 2013 and I think it will be pretty difficult to top this year...but we'll have a good go at it. The year started with some trips back and forward to Switzerland and composing the music for Ralph Lauren's online advertising - the Men's spring wear collection. This was the first of a number of international clients in 2013.
We continued the year doing some voice over recording for Betfair for their online gambling tutorials with Voice over artist Gareth Williams. These educational videos covered all aspects of Betfair's online gambling games and all of the different variations of sports from football, to cricket. It was quite a learning experience for a team who have never gambled in their lives....ahem :)
The 'Newcastle Gateshead initiative' is a group who are tasked with much of the PR for Newcastle and Gateshead making sure that people inside and outside of the region know all there is know about the city. The video we worked on was designed to inspire the local people of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead to talk about it more - covering all of the famous fact about the the area (the light bulb, lucozade) and some of the less well know facts (stem cells technology and electric cars). The tag line - 'Newcastle-Gateshead is genuinely inspiring' asid it ....people of newcastle and gateshead - go and tell the world how proud we are of the city. In house composer Rich McCoull wrote the music and the voice over artists were Phillipa Wilson (the Pittmann Painters) and local Music Legend, Ray Laidlaw (Drummer, Lindisfarne).
One of our longest standing clients and work that is always going on in the background here is the work we do for GCSEPOD. These are fantastic educational aides - GCSE revision notes on Ipods....can you believe it. If only I had them when I did my exams ...well it probably wouldn't have made that much difference but nevertheless a fantastic concept for a Newcastle based company who enjoying a huge amount of success. WE do a lot of dialogue recording and audio editing for the GCSEPOD guys.
Later in the year we composed the music, recorded the voice over and did the audio mix for the Newcastle college TV adverts. The music was a lively - singalong indie tune - the visuals done by Superkrush were in the style of instagram snaps. We used students attending Newcastle college to do the voice overs.
The middle of the year had some radio for Vigin money, ZSL Whipsande Zoo - some voice recording for Bellway homes and some audio mixes for 'Clear Blue'.
I think at this point it is definitely worth mentioning the ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) that we've done hear this year....Starting with 'Miss Marple' and 'Strike back' and ending with 'The Paradise' and 'Hebburn', these were definitely some of the highlights of the year.
I think the year was completed superbly first with the 'Best western hotels' job - Directed by Alex Telfer, online short films and 'Off the Beaten track' sponsorship bumpers.
This was fast followed by the sponsorship idents for the 'Paul O'grady show' on ITV. The final part of the year and definitely a highlight was the Late night movie bumpers for film 4...stylistically based on the work of Saul Bass.
Leaving this brief round up of work - here is the 32red 'Slots' commercial. fantastic 3d and a great brief to write to . Top off with the dulcet tones of Voice mover artist Simon Barnes.
Hopefully this year will go from strength to strength, already with some exciting work booked in for January....I think it might be better than last :)
